MEET SHARON

Hi, I’m Sharon!

Ever since I can remember, harmony has been a driving force in my life. I am considered an “Interpersonal” or “Harmonizer” as it is defined on the Personal Style Inventory Scale.

Being there for others is simply a natural part of who I am and what I love to do–To listen. To understand. To comfort and support. To help others feel heard and accepted. To bring a sense of peace, calm and lightness into one’s everyday.

I followed my heart in getting to where I am today. With degrees from Denison University in psychology and from The University of Pennsylvania in Education/Psychological Services, and with certifications from the University of West Georgia for School Counseling and from The Academy of Parent Coaching International for Parent Coaching, working in the mental health field has proven to be a perfect fit for my strengths and for my passion.

I am an avid learner always wanting to enhance my goal of helping children, tweens and teens and now their parents to live their best lives.

My experiences as a psychotherapist, educator, trainer, mentor, workshop presenter, speaker, parent and family coach– but most importantly as a mom– allow me to bring a holistic and tailored approach to each of my parents and their families.

As a parent and grandparent myself, I have certainly had plentiful opportunities to navigate the ups and downs along with the struggles and successes that raising children naturally brings.

I have screamed, cried, and curled up into a ball.

I have laughed, cheered and celebrated too!

And to this day, because once a parent always a parent, I continue to do so.

It is my firm belief that being a great parent does not equate to being a “perfect” parent or having “perfect” kids. What does that mean anyway?

Instead, I believe being a great parent equates to how a parent chooses to respond, communicate and connect with their children no matter what their child brings to the table.

My Back Story-

Not only did my parenting path change but our lives forever changed!

My kids were tweens and teens (take it from me- It is NEVER too late to learn new tricks!)
when I enrolled in a school-sponsored parenting workshop.

I felt like I was hit over the head with a ton of bricks with what I was learning. I seriously left after the first session wondering what I was doing to my kids!!!

Parenting, I realized, well at least effective parenting, was not as natural as I had assumed it to be.

I had been parenting on autopilot- simply going through the motions without much thought yet expecting big results. Sound familiar?

Arming myself with specific tools and strategies designed for parents has been a game changer for my entire family!

Now, when those “What Now?” moments do occur, after all, we know they will, I am much more confident in handling and responding to situations that come my way in a much more thoughtful and intentional manner.

And if I blow it…..Well…….there is always next time! 🙂

It is my turn to pay it forward. It is important to me and it is my honor to share what has been so transformative in my life and that of my family, with parents, grandparents, teachers and any caregiver of children.

Every one deserves to live their authentic life with peace and happiness. Healthy and effective parenting is the beginning!

My philosophy- Create a strong and healthy parent/child relationship.

Choose to laugh. Choose to connect. Choose to be present.

Why? Your Kids will not only thrive but they will naturally become more cooperative, responsible, independent and yes, even fun to be with!

I have had the honor of working with thousands of parents over the years. I am uplifted every day by their spirit and dedication to themselves, to their children and to their families.

My true joy comes when parents report:

  • They laughed with their children for the first time in months.
  • They no longer feel the burden of feeling angry every day.
  • They have more energy to play, talk and be with their kids.
  • Their teen gave them an unsolicited hug.
  • They did not argue with their child but instead worked towards a solution together.
  • They actually look forward to their children coming home from school.
  • They see the light at the end of what has felt like a very dark and scary tunnel.

Ultimately, I find joy in parents and their children becoming a family all over again

None of this would be possible if it were not for my own family.

They are truly my greatest inspiration of all! My husband, my children and my grandchildren are my biggest supporters in life and in my career. It is because of them that I have learned (and continue to learn), that I have grown (and continue to grow) and that I strive every day to be the best wife, parent and grandparent I can be.

Sharon and husband Rob

My husband, Rob, of 35 years, has been by my side every step of the way. He has taught me so much about the importance of effective communication, commitment and character. His willingness to jump in head first with me to experiment with new parenting tools and strategies (with our kids being our unsuspecting subjects,) was critical to becoming the family we are today!

We certainly have the stories to tell and let’s just say, so do our kids!

Have you laughed with your kids today?

More Peace. More Joy.
Stronger Relationships.
